Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a V60 or V90 SD card?
Check the recording mode in your camera manual. If it lists V60, often for 6K and high-bitrate 4K, this card is enough. Choose V90 only if a mode you use requires it. V60 means a sustained minimum write of 60MB/s; V90 means 90MB/s.
Will a UHS-II card work in a UHS-I camera?
Yes. UHS-II cards are backward compatible with UHS-I SDXC slots but run at UHS-I speed there. If your camera only has UHS-I slots, an Extreme PRO UHS-I card gives similar in-camera performance for less; the UHS-II advantage then only shows when offloading with a UHS-II reader.
How much 4K video fits on a 256GB SD card?
About 5.7 hours at 100 Mbps, a common 4K bitrate. 128GB holds about 2.8 hours and 512GB about 11 hours. Higher-bitrate 4K and 6K modes use more space, so check the bitrate your camera lists for the mode you shoot.
Which capacities of the V60 card do you stock?
We stock 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. SanDisk also makes 64GB and 1TB versions, which we do not currently carry. Choose 256GB for most video days and 512GB for events or long productions where you want fewer card changes.
Do I need a special reader for UHS-II speed?
Yes. Full UHS-II transfer speed needs a UHS-II reader, such as a SanDisk QuickFlow UHS-II reader, and a fast USB port on the computer. A UHS-I reader still works, but transfers at UHS-I speed.
