UHS-II SD card FAQ

Do I need a UHS-II card? Only if your camera has a UHS-II slot (a second row of contacts) and a recording mode that asks for V60 or V90; your camera manual or its approved-media list says which. A UHS-II card also works in a UHS-I camera, at UHS-I speed. Ratings explained: V30 vs V60 vs V90.

How much 4K video fits? At 100 Mbps, about 2.8 hours on 128GB, 5.7 hours on 256GB and 11 hours on 512GB (estimates; higher bitrates fill a card faster). Chart and formula: how much memory card capacity you need.

Which reader gets the full speed? Only a UHS-II reader, such as the SanDisk QuickFlow SD UHS-II USB-C reader. For sports and wildlife shooters weighing UHS-I against UHS-II, read choosing an SD card for sports and wildlife (UHS-I vs UHS-II).
